Super 6
The Haze inferential reading questions and writing tasks are linked to the Super 6 skills: Connect, predict, monitor, question, summarise, visualise.
READING AND WRITING
There is an essential bridge between reading and writing. Require students to write a short piece, using the Haze writing prompts, before asking inferential questions about it. WRITING: Ask them to SHOW, not tell - to scatter clues through their writing, that the reader must follow.
OR Require them to write a short piece [1-2 paragraphs] full of implied meaning, immediately AFTER they have colour highlighted and discussed the clue words in a piece of writing on a similar theme. Students show their writing to a partner, who colour highlights the clue words and says what the implied meanings are.
