Here, Hidden, Head questions
3H questions assist students to understand the different levels of reading. HERE = Reading for facts and literal meanings, HIDDEN = Reading for inferences, HEAD = Means giving our opinion about what we have just read. Ask students to create the 3H questions and a buddy will answer them. It is important to share our jargon with students, "This is how to infer. We follow a trail of clues. They combine to make a pattern."
Students write their stories, then make up their 3H questions and quiz each other.
